After breaking ground in 1972, eighteen months and then some, were required to complete the 10,000 sq ft house at Long Hill. Using a spacious, open and flowing floor plan, the warmth and hand-hewn quality of materials from two century-old log houses, several abandoned stone chimneys, and barn foundations combine the comfort of a modern house with the heritage of the area's building materials.

The doors (including antique hardware) are from demolished houses; the kitchen cabinets were originally pine floor boards in a country store; the beautiful stained glass windows framing the foyer were originally part of a church and a set of row houses in Richmond, Virginia.......the house has many unique architectural features.

The house is full of antiques and 'early attic' treasures including a room set up as an informal museum display of "modern" kitchen, medical and household items from the 1930s.
